Todd S. Marshall has been creating concept art and illustrations in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He has excelled in many roles, most recently serving 11 years in the gaming world, including Lead Artist at Sunstorm Inc., Art Director for Sinister Games (Ubisoft), and Senior Concept Artist for Volition, Inc (THQ). Throughout this time, Todd has garnered growing recognition for his ability to bring conceptual ideas to life.

In addition to his most recent work in the gaming industry, Todd, one of the leading paleolife-illustrators in the world, has been working alongside Dr. Paul Sereno, Ph.D., University of Chicago and National Geographic Society’s Paleontologist Explorer-in-Residence, to reconstruct newly discovered prehistoric animals to science. Todd’s multi-media paleo-art has been featured in academic science journals, television specials, and documentaries around the world. Natural history museums, such as the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History, have displayed Todd’s work to a worldwide audience.

Todd’s growing popularity has made him the artist of choice for many scientific promotional and educational programs. His recognized and accredited works include winning the prestigious John J. Lazendorf Award for “Best 2-D Paleo-Artist of 2005”, by The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. Marshall’s illustrations have also been published in National Geographic (China, Australia, South America, Europe, and US), Science Illustrated, Discovery, and Science magazines. Todd’s love for science and education may shine most brightly in his work with Project Exploration, a nonprofit outreach organization dedicated to bringing the excitement of scientific discovery to the public and providing innovative educational opportunities for inner city children.

Before Todd honed in on his passion for paleo-art, he spent a number of years perfecting his artistic talents in Los Angeles. His work ranged from airbrushing motorcycle tanks for some of Hollywood’s elite clubs to designing album covers for hard rock bands that will forever leave their mark on the industry. He earned his B.A. in Illustration and Fine Arts at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Throughout his training, Todd learned that the greatest teachers are often fellow artists. That lesson was reinforced as he was being mentored by Mark “Crash” McCreery, one of the supreme motion picture concept artists of our time, at Stan Winston’s Special Effects Studio. Crash not only took him under his wing for some big-name projects, but he also taught Todd the importance of using his imagination and talent to convey through art what most people could only dream.
